2 Ella D- I am from...

 Growing up Ella

261 words

I am from ellabella, ellabelle, and now elle,

From the youngest,

To the middle,

From oaks,

To harvest,

I am from many toys,

And many kids,

Whom I was never related to but played with like siblings,

I am from long days at ballparks,

And even longer nights in a gym,

Practicing for months on end,

For only 2.5 minutes to count.

I am from long car rides at 6am,

Along the 5 in the back left seat,

I am from hotels that give out candy canes,

And long waits to get through the gates,

From the aroma of distant popcorn and churros that somehow smell of joy,

I am from people watching,

And screams on the matterhorn,

From family pictures in front of the castle,

I am from the  “its a small world” jingle stuck on my head at night,

I am from disneyland.

I am from the soft breeze in my hair,

I am from feeling grounded at high places of the earth,

I am from the sound of waves crashing to the surface,

From the love of big redwoods,

And windy roads.

I’m from trips to grandma’s house,

Mama Mia playing on repeat,

From mom dropping me off at school,

The words “Be Kind” spoken every morning,

I am from dresses and sandals,

From skinny jeans and vans,

To thrifted skirts and doc martens,

I’m from fancy dresses in front of a crowd,

Judged by beauty and grace,

I am from a proud wildcat mother,

I am from a strong wildcat sister,

I am now a wildcat.

  1. Ella I loved hearing about where you’re from. You used amazing imagery and I could definitely see the many pictures you were forming with your descriptive words. I love the way your childhood transitioned to your adolescence and the sly mention of your style change. Great post! - Kayla

  2. I love the imagery of this line, "From the aroma of distant popcorn and churros that somehow smell of joy," because you can really look back at the times when you were at Disney and smell the faint scent of churros. I also like how you included that your mother and sister were wildcats and now you're apart of that generation of wildcats. Lovely post! - Esme :)
