Ella Draper#9- Miss Independent

 Miss Independent

Word count 235

Growing up the middle child in a family with two other very outspoken sisters, I learned at a young age that I prefer to be and do things independently. Although it is good to be able to do things on your own without feeling lonely, or upset about it, being as independent as I am comes with its faults.

My mother was the first person who called upon my independence at a young age. Normally for my lack of reading directions, doing things ‘’my way’’, and the amount of time I tended to spend alone in my room.

I have always been very accident prone, but when my mom found a way to blame this on my own actions, you can bet she used it against me quite a bit. If I failed at a recipe she would say something along the lines of “ella you are so independent, if only you would follow the instructions.” which most of the time she was correct, as mom’s tend to be. I just wish she wasn’t correct.

I Love doing things on my own but hate the fact that others can put all of the blame on me when something is done incorrectly.

Although I could just start asking for help when needed, I still have a hard time breaking down the wall my fragile ego has formed.

  1. Great post, Ella! I loved reading your post and I can really relate to it. Just like you I can be a little accident prone and a little tooo independent. I also really liked the image you put, it gives me beauty contestant / pageant vibes which makes me feel that being independent isn't a bad thing and can be a bit glamorized at times. Super interesting and relatable post! ♡

  2. Just like you I can be a little accident prone and a little too independent. The last line of your blogger literally resonated with me. I also have a hard time asking for help even when I need it because I'm independent and I feel embarrassed now if I do.
