Ella Draper-10-In My Room

 In my room

Word Count:255

My room. The place I spend so much of my time in. Where I waste my time laying in bed scrolling on my phone for hours, where I get ready, and where I currently am writing this blog post.

My room is my comfort place, my escape from the rest of the world, a place I can be emotionally detached from the distress the outside world poses.

About 10 months ago, in the midst of covid lockdowns, I got a new room. A fresh clean start, I got to repaint, and decorate the new space to my liking. The first thing I did was paint over the bright pink walls that my little sister left in the room, and I decided to go with gray and white. I had this vision that one day I would collect enough memorabilia, photos, and media to cover the wall space and brighten up the room.

This plan of collecting wall decor became my mission in life. For months I kept every little thing that could remotely be hung up on a wall that reminded me of, well, myself. I painted pictures, collected posters, even hung up a few pieces of my vinyl collection so that my room would feel unique to me.

My room has changed quite a few times in the past 10 months, putting up and taking down a collage wall, moving around a new bed frame, and adding some hanging plant friends. My room has stayed my go to place for unwinding, relaxing, and thinking.

  1. Nice post, Ella! I love your room it looks comforting and similar to my own room. I also love painting pictures and hanging them up on the wall- I have a wall full of them! ♡ Such a relatable, familiar post, great job!!
